What about Guru Nanak's responsibilty as a householder?

Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught us that the life of householder is extremely important. He had two sons, however he went on extensive travels during their lives and therefore they did not see him during this time. I am just wondering I guess how we can reconcile the fact that he wasn't there during that time. Is is because the need for him to serve the children of God (all of humanity) and spread the message of God was far greater than his need to be at home? or is there another explanation? Another great question. Thank you. The householder life is different when one is called to a mission. Then it is not centered on the small family life but on serving the mission. Husband and wife each serve that mission in their own way. Maybe the husband serves the wife, maybe the wife serves the husband. Marriage means one soul in two bodies, and that means that they move side by side through life with the Guru and the Guru's mission at the center of both their lives. When one is called to teach, then teaching comes first because one must deliver what one's soul contracted to deliver in this lifetime before it took birth. When one makes Guru Ji the center of the marriage, then all responsibilities are fulfilled and married life is filled with grace and blessings.

Guru Nanak left for travelling around age 29 , people got married in 13 that time, so he left when people start having mid life crisis, he left with 16 year old son. Not much left to do in house hold stuff.

Also he said, If your mind is at the right place you will find god in Household no need to leave your household in search of God.
