Guru Nanak left for travelling around age 29 , people got married in 13 that time, so he left when people start having mid life crisis, he left with 16 year old son. Not much left to do in house hold stuff.

Also he said, If your mind is at the right place you will find god in Household no need to leave your household in search of God.
