This question does not belong on a Sikh forum, but i will answer you for the sake of facts. Please keep in mind that castes are against Sikhi and that if you are to say you have a caste, call yourself a Khalsa.
Anyway, the Dhallas belong to the Sunar caste, and the Mair Rajput sub-caste. They are generally jewellers or goldsmiths, and are of Northern India and Nepal. Most are Hindus, but Sikh Dhallas are primarily found in Haryana and the Punjab. They are believed to have been descended from the Kshatriyas. So no - Dhallas are not Jatts.
I hope this helped for a bit of knowledge. Please, if you are a Dhalla, do not call yourself a Dhalla, but a Khalsa as was previously started.
Now, that's the typical Indian Punjabi Sikh question. Theoretically, Sikhism bashes caste-ism but practically most of the Punjabi speaking Sikhs follow caste-ism.
If you pick up Indian newspapers, the matrimonial advertisements of the Sikh community as well as online matrimonial ads. of Sikhs are divided into various castes. Apart from this even Gurdwaras are divided into caste based Gurdwaras e.g Ramgarhia Gurdwaras, Namdhari Gurdwaras, etc, etc.
Inside these Gurdwaras, Punjabi Sikhs keep shouting Sikhs are Great, Sikhism is Great........We are the Sons and Daughters of the Gurus but in practice they follow the double standards and hypocrisy.
Indian Punjabi Sikhs proudly display their surnames, Dhallas, Dhillons, Randhawas, Grewals, Gills, SherGills........the list is endless.
If Dhallae is a Sikh, then most likely they are Jatts from village Dhalla near Rawalpindi in Lahore. If it's Hindu or Muslim, then he/she is most likely Mair Rajputs. The thing is Jatt is also a title and also the definition of Scythian people who immigrated to Indian subcontinent. Most of the Dhallas in today's Pakistan used to be Zimidars before migrating to India after independence.
