i really wanna take amrit and I've been preparing myself to tell my parents. i had no clue what there reaction would be. i told my mom and she was so proud of my decision and glad that i was on the right path. then, i told my dad and he just went off on how i'm not ready and how your gonna have a hard time keeping my rehit. i didn't understand his position as i follow almost every thing in the rehit maryada (there are just little things like taking cold showers) and I've been told by others that i should take amrit and that i'm beyond ready. i wanna do this but i don't wanna do this behind my dad's back. what should i do the amrit sanchar is in a month as of tomorrow.

You can do ardas in front of Guru Sahib Ji and see what Guru Sahib Ji instructs you...what Mukhvaak Guru Sahib ji blesses you with...and that would be the best decision...god bless you...

Narayan ram har har satnam WAHEGURU !! Khalsa fateh brother I actually find myself in the exact same position I was so scared of asking or even thinking the thought near my parents I feel that taking amrit wouldn't change me intireky from the outside either as I do my rehat but I have come to relize that one can only be truthfully ready to take amrit when there head is allready with the guru easily said then done my freind I'm 14 and the other day I talked to my mum about taking amrit for the first time and you know what she said she why should I have to gi e you permission when in life you'll do what you will want she was happy and doesn't mind what time I take it. But there is one way you can get maybe speeded the process up continue going deeper in prayer in simran in bani and bana find the rass the amrit within , be tyar par tyar always and start Wearing the five k's. always meditate on akal and always Sing dun guru gobind Singh sahib waheguruji ka Khalsa waheguruji ki remember my bothers and sisters I my self haven't taken amrit yet , but others think I have. Buddha dal ji take amrit soon and we can be nihangs together . One more thing in the paratan maryada or rehit ritten by the panj piare they talk about an akali Khalsa a higher elevated Khalsa who wear blue and follow a true way who venerate the three granths android not cut a single hair who cover each hair respectfully who where long kashera with grace so on. Bhai guruka Singh ji if you could please tell us more about the akali Khalsa. Khalsa fateh

One enlightend soul my grandfather who I believe has achieved enlightenment told me one very awesome thing he said to me that only when your mother gives you permission you can take amrit. Listen to this my mother was my obstacle but not physically or truthfully but just in my mind.

What I meant to continue was now switch that thought to your father. But I guess u got the answer. Try to recite bani from Sri sarbloh Guru Granth Sahib ji and Sri dasam Guru Granth Sahib ji also from akal adhi Sri satguru granth sahib ji ; remember in our rehit we venerate all three granths.

Amrit is given, not taken. When you feel the inner call to apply this discipline in your life there will be no duality about it. It is only between you and your Guru. Go before him and mathe tek. Listen to his voice and you will know what to do without any doubt. It is your Sikhi, not your dad's, and you must live it.

In Waheguru's eyes there are no parents, so this excuse of not taking Amrit because your parents are stoping you is nothing, but before we go into any of that, are you preparing to take Amrit, such as wear 5k's, do Nitnem, and follow Rehat, cause you have to do all of that as an Amritdhari, and don't start Paat as an Amritdhari, don't start to wear 5k's as an Amritdhari, it has to seem natural for you

Cool, does doing Nitnem and wearing 5k's seem natural to you, that is the big thing, because Amrit is not to put you in a strict standard, it should be if it seems right, remember the Panj Pyare DID go take AMRIT, but they GAVE THEIR HEADS FIRST, so just remember Guru's head is yours, be happy!
