Hello. Recently, I have been getting really vile and wrong thoughts whenever I am praying or think about prayers, Sikhi etc. I recognize them, and acknowledge that they are there, but I really do not understand where they are coming from, and want to get rid of them. They cause my overall mood and mental state to be negative, because I get angry with myself, and feel a sort of guilt with Waheguruji. Also, whenI try to do breathing exercises and meditation while listening to shabad to clear my mind, I am unable to do so because my thoughts and brain runs at a million miles per hour. I truly want to work on my relationship with Waheguru and Sikhi, as my faith is so important to me, my growth, and my intake on the world and spirituality. It is difficult, as I am a teenager with so many obligations, but I never forget Guruji. If someone could please help me, I would greatly appreciate it! WJKK, WJKF.

Ravleen Kaur Ji - Your mind is doing what minds do... producing thoughts. Why are some thoughts wrong and others right? They are just thoughts... some positive, some negative, some simply observational. You can't get rid of them, but you can change your relationship with them. The problem comes in allowing your awareness to get caught up in the thoughts. When you meditate correctly, you come into relationship with your own mind and train your awareness/attention to rest on the whole, not the parts. Japa and meditation give you the power of Simran. In the state of Simran, you do not do anything, God serves you.

You have given up on your pranayam and meditation because you believe your mind to be too strong, but that is just a trick of the ego. Your mind is strong, but you are much stronger than your mind. Stay steady in your pranayam, japa and meditation and gradually, your mind will come under your control.

You will never be truly successful in life unless you master your own mind: "Man Jeetai Jag Jeet."
