I'm a 18 yr old guy living in Delhi. I have kept my beard n hair. but now a days i feel sad to see around me sikhs with trimmed beard. my background is from rural punjab n there the condition is more bad. Sikhs have got their beard trimmed n kesh cut(my cousin did this recently) n when u ask them why u did this n they say coz of" headache "or some say to look "GOOD". R SIKHS NOT GOOD LOOKING(TO GALS)??? AND ONE MORE QUESTION IS OUR RELIGION DECLINING DUE TO PATITNESS(TRIMMED BEARD N KESH)????WhAT CAN B DONE 2 STOP THIS???????

I am not Sikh, but I think that Sikhism is one of the best religion and I already changed most things in my life according Sikh lifestyle and keep it still =)

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fathe

I am a girl and I like guys that have a beard because it makes them stand out and I really think that guy do look handsome in a beautifully worn turban and a beard. I think that the guys that shave look really un handsome (I didn't want to use the word 'ugly' because no one is ugly in God's eyes.) Who cares if girls don't like guys with beards. but iam sure that there are other girls like me who like Sikh guys.

And Sikhism will never die because there will be another like Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Baba Deep Singh Ji. Khalsa will never die and I am sure of that because 'Raj Karega Khalsa!' Sikhs might be dying but the Khalsa will never die. Amrit gives immortality not death.

Those people who cut there hair are not sikhs, they just believe in Sikhism but that does not mean that they follow the reath marada of the Sikhs. People who follow the Guru Granth Sahib Ji and live acording to the reath marada are gursikh. Anyone can be sikh but the true sikhs that can be Gursikh.

So my final say is that Sikhism will never die. because girls like us will never let it die. and I hope my thinking stays this way.

I don't think the Sikh faith is declining "because" people are cutting/trimming their hair. I think the reason is a result of the Experience of Sikhi not being there. If a person does not have a strong sense of the Sikh lifestyle and feel the benefits...then the social pressures will take over. I think people these days are loosing touch with the roots of Sikhi and doing things in a ritualistic way. When the meaning is lost and you are just doing something then the depth of that experience can be minimal.

The teachings of the Gurus are not black and white. When you look at the writings of the Gurus there is a lot of depth. People sometimes take things so literally or at surface level without understanding the deeper meanings or the context.

Be strong! The Gurus gave us this Bana for a reason. Being a Sikh is not about finding the easy way out. It is the warrior/saint lifestyle. If you wish to be a Sikh then you should live to this strength. Most great people are great because they endured hardships. They did not do what everyone else does.

When Guru Nanak had his first Sikh in form of Bibi Nanaki ji and Rai Bular, they never were afraid of the low population of Sikhs. Don't care about numbers, care about yourself. And keep on working on your relation with Guru. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Between a Sikh and his Guru is just a matter of time. That relationship exists beyond time and space. Sikhi cannot die. It can only evolve. The Guru chooses his Sikh, not the other way around.

I had removed my kesh, it is sad for me to say this, I kept my Kesh now, but, I feel that the Sikhs that have removed their have not understood the meaning of Kesh, Now with the Sikhs who are not Punjabi or Indian background, such as the Sikhs in New Mexico, most keep their kesh, and at least half of these Sikhs are White, so if I were to calculate this, the Sikhs that will help bring Khalsa Raj, will not be done by Indians, but these White Sikhs, who follow the Rehat to a higher level, only Guru Ji chooses who is a Sikh, that is why this path seems like it is falling, in the Gurus eyes the Sikh path is forced to become stronger, as there are limits on who we can trust, Sikhi is immortal, something I learned when I kept my Kesh, but despite Sikhi is immortal, I want to say that this path is only being challenged, because Waheguru has created us in 2-3 centuries, and we were kings at the start, kings in the present world, and will be kings in the future, it is Raj Keera Ka Khalsa

I AM A SIKH AND THE REASON FOR SIKHISM DYING IS TWOFOLD:

WOMAN'S RIGHTS. SIKHISM SAYS WOMEN CAN BE EQUAL IN SPIRITUAL MATTERS AND JOBS, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN CARRIED TO AN EXTREME. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE ARE MAKING OUR WOMEN WORK AND THEY HAVE NO TIME TO TEACH THEIR BOY CHILDREN ANYTHING. ALSO I HAVE NOTICED ALL EMPHASIS IS ON GIRLS THESE DAYS. THIS IS VERY BAD AND WE ARE COPYING THIS FROM USA.
LOOK AT HOW STUPID SIKHS IN PUNJAB ARE BEING. THEY THINK RAP SONGS, SMOKING, GOING TO CLUBS IS 'HIGH FASHION'. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PUNJAB NOW.

No, It is not over. A Maha Yuga is 4,320,000 years. Sat Yuga (Golden Age - Age of Truth) is 1,728,000 years. Treta Yuga (Silver Age - Age of Faith) is 1,296,000 years. Duapar Yuga (Bronze Age - Age of Doubt) is 864,000 years. Kali Yuga (Iron Age - Age of Darkness) is 432,000 years.

look my dear friends, dont worry something will happen and something is going to. mark my words for they are struck by the hammer of the guru. the hukham has been given and the sleeping khalsa shall be awoken those who are false shall diapear those who are true will merge with the beacon of the khalsa; the khalsa will shine brighter then ever; and the sikh qom will reunite with the guru. oh sibilings of destiny relize that this world is fake this world is material the only truth id the lord the sat waheguru.

The neela nishan sahib will rise (standerd of the guru) along side the basanti nishan sahib (standard of the sikh nation) miri and piri will be purified and the akal takht rebuilt with its spriritual truth.

Higher than baana is Bani...Value of baana will automatically diminish when understanding of Bani is low...There is no need to wear uniform if you are not in the school, studying...

You may keep Bana But you can't call yourself Sikhs if you don't struggle to understand Bani...

I shaved off my beard once & cut my hair...but when I really started understanding Guru's hukam...I could not shave anymore...just din't feel like...

Most of the Sikhs think just keeping beard & kesh makes them Sikh. This is a misconception...Bana is the uniform...Bani is the lesson...one may learn the lesson without uniform...but forgetting bani is being naive & ignorant...Bani + Bani = student in full form & effect...

Those who just say I am Sikh just because I keep beard & kesh & was born in a Sikh family...are even more lost sometimes...they read Japji Sahib throughout life without even trying to understand what it means...which is ignorance at its height...

If one is so proud or concerned about his religion then he must understand it, follow it & set a good example(of deep understanding) for his fellow men...

This is an interesting topic that many people are putting their opinions about. If I can honestly answer your question of whether Sikhism is dying or not it is hard to answer this question because this question is quite complex to answer. First and foremost one needs to understand that living as a turbaned sikh man and facing some challenges (whether school bullying, peer pressure, random airport screening, employment discrimination, and matrimonial discrimination) has forced many Sikhs to remove their turbans because of the circumstances. On the other note some Sikhs who at one point had cut their hair decided to re-adopt their visible sikh identity. One question you had asked if turbaned sikh guys are good looking to girls well that depends on individual sikh girl, but majority of sikh girls these days prefer clean shaven guy as opposed to a turbaned sikh guy. One thing to understand is every individual whether its guy or girl is entitled to their own opinion. Honestly these days only a small handful of sikh women prefer to marry a turbaned sikh man. Your other question was how can this patit (clean shaven ) trend be stopped well there are many ways first and foremost the parents have to educate the kids on sikh history, sikh identity, sikh sacrifices, also the local gurdwaras need to address this issue by setting up sikh camps, sikh seminars, having a youth discussion forum so that the youth can discuss about sikh identity and civil rights.

Nahh.. Sikhi can NEVER die! That is why we have Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji... he is the Guru here FOREVER :D It is all about sangat you know. Before I used to think this way too because all I would see is people going away from God. But now I changed my sangat, i am with Chardi Kala Gursikhs and I can say Sikhi is AKAAAALL!!
