The past couple of months i have started growing closer and closer to sikhism, i have given up meat, started to listen to gurbani much more and so on. The only problem is i go to a school that is located very far from my house and takes me about 1 and 1/2 hours on the bus to get there. i get up around 6am and get back home for about 6pm. This makes it very difficult to practice my daily paath as if i did it leaves me very little time to do my homework and revise for any tests. How would you advise i could get around that? Also, could you give me any tips on what i need to do to become 'a better sikh' and get closer to waheguru. Thank you

You can start doing Simran everyday, doing Simran is very powerful. You can do it while travelling, while bathing, or doing any chores. Once you start doing Simran obviously you will feel yourself near to WaheGuru.

Maybe you can use that 1.5 hour bus ride to listen to the prayers on your iPod or phone. you can also listen to kirtan. In terms of being a better Sikh- thats a lot of things. Thats in your daily actions in how you treat people in school, in being an honest and hard-working person, in being compassionate and brave and responsible for your actions. Sikhism isn't just about things like giving up meat- remember the teachings of the Gurus. If you haven't already done this, you can read about the history of Sikhism and the reasons for what we do. I agree with the answer by the person before me that doing Simran will be greatly beneficial. I am really happy for you that you are interested in this path and you are making such a big effort.
