About Marriage

hi i am 25 jatt sikh girl and i am in relationship with a rajput. Its been almost 3 years. I told my mom that i wanna get married to him but she said its impossible because he is not jatt. she threatened me that my brother and dad will kill me if they will know about this. But me and him think differently. His family does not care if i am jatt or not and they go to Gurudwara Sahib. Our guru is same so why all this jaat paat matters? I do not know what should I do to make them understand this or how to change their thinking about this.

As being a "Jatt" male myself at the same age as you (25) with a similiar family with the same values as marrying within the same caste let me tell you of my personal opinion on this matter. I've been through a lot and I've meet a lot of people from different places around the world. My final conclusion is that the Guru is correct. We come from the same light in our hearts.

What I'm trying to say is that...Let's say that YOU are your parents mother and your mom and dad is your son and daughter, you want them too become doctors because then you can find a better partner and survive wherever you come from nice money, good family the 5 Modern Punjabi K's. image description Car, Home/Bungalow, Chicken, Cash and Girls etc. You send them too Medical schools (MBBS) abroad from your home country, Maybe too Yale in US. Now while being there they don't want too study because maybe it's too hard too pass the test and feel like a failure? Maybe they try too study but cannot remember anything they've read? Maybe you've sent your children (parents) too a diffrent country which they have difficulties adapting too because they need to learn the language etc.

Moral of the story is that you cannot change them if they do not wish too learn. Maybe you feel that you cannot change anything in your life? There is however one thing you can change and control and that is your mind.

I know that you want too fix you're problems right away. So here is what you do. You can try to get contacts with SikhNet via Skype! Don't know that contact details but it shouldn't be too hard to find here in Sikhnet. They are very busy because they have their own private lives and they help people with issues as yours when they are free. And there are alot of those problems because last time I checked we still live in Polluted Industrial age of Darkness (Kalyuug)! Good luck!
