Hii, What is the Difference Between Veda and Granth?
Veda is a Sanskrit word meaning knowledge or wisdom, they are the most ancient Hindu and yogic texts. The ideas, teachings and practices described in the Vedas forms the basis of the Hindu philosophy.
The word Granth too originates from the Sanskrit word Grantha a book, literary composition. And hence, Guru Granth Sahib the sacred scripture of the Sikhs believed to be the embodiment of the Gurus.
The Vedas pre-date the Guru Granth Sahib by thousands of years and are the knowledge base upon which Gurbani rests. In fact, the Siri Guru Granth Sahib is sometimes referred to as "Siri Ved" meaning that all the knowledge of the Vedas and more is contained within it.
