What do I do with my broken kara?

my kara broke i mean it snapped and than idk wht happen i got relly emotional ,i bought another one as soon as possible but i still have the old one wit me.how should i get rid of it respectfully or do i just chuck it out???? my kara snapped,what to do??

it's okay. Sometimes actually when people outgrow their kara and it becomes too small, they have to cut it off. You can give it back to the Gurdwara I believe and they can re-use the metal to mold them into a new kara.

If someone does have a broken Kara, a torn Turban or any of the 5K's which is broken or torn the best way out is to do "Jal Pravah" meaning depositing in a flowing and clean river.

Do remember to utter, "WaheGuru WaheGuru" while depositing the Kara in a river where there is a continuous flow of water but not in a place where there is stagnant water-body.
