My dad won't let me do seva at the Gurdwara anymore. I have been doing seva for 2 years at my local Gurdwara and i have fallen in love with it. I know everybody at the Gurdwara and i feel like i have everybodys trust. I feel incomplete whenever i don't do seva at least once a week. Well now my "dad" says that i can't do seva because only guys do seva and if i do seva with boys my age, then it will look bad. I have a hard time sitting for a long period of time so i do seva and listen to kirtan/katha. My dad says that if i am not able to sit for too long, then i shouldn't go to the Gurdwara. My parents and i have even taken amrit. Now I'm sitting here crying wishing i never started doing seva in the first place because to me.... it feels like a drug addict going through withdrawal symptoms. Another thing that really disappoints me is that, my dad thinks I'll do something wrong.

The biggest thing is... Seva is the only thing I'm capable of doing. My parents never taught me to do kirtan and they never let me learn Gatka. I'm ashamed because i don't know how to do much and now my dad is stopping me from the only thing that i can do.

So how can i convince my dad to let me do seva again???

i totally understand your situation because i am in same situation in which parents stop you for doing sewa i dont even know how to convince my parents but what i am trying i can only tell you by reading this post i felt the love for sewa you have inside you i acn only suggest you what i am trying to convince my parents. First try to talk with dad and explain him what kind of love you have inside you for sewa second try to take him to sewa and show him how dedicate and how much love you havefor sewain your heart but if that still didn't work do ardass and take a hukumnama and do whatever guru maharaj sahib said in the hukumnama

Bhul chuk maaf

What i can understand from your particular case is, your Dad doesn't wishes that you mingle with boys and that's the prime reason of his objection to you doing Sewa in the Gurdwara.

So, better go to the Gurdwara on days when your Dad doesn't goes and then on that particular days of the week you can do lots and lots of Sewa without your Dad noticing you.

Dhan Guru Nanak.

I know parents...(sometimes very challenging because as a kid we think they are beams of light, but they are not, they are imperfect human beings as well, but ur dad might have a good intention in his mind, whatever it is, don't focus on them) how about you do sewa of your parents (think of that as sewa) - help mom- help dad.. with ANYTHING, even massaging their aches and pain, cooking for them. waheguru sees good intentions not an exact place to do sewa. and who knows after this your parents might even let you do sewa (because they will see how good their daughter is)
