strong text I am 25 year old male, and was amrith dhari from 18 to 21 years of age, but it wasn't my decision every body from my family to my friends to my hostel mates pressured me to become AMRITDHARI SINGH. And I did it. But it didnt felt right to me. For three years I regularly did amrivele isnan, did all the 5 amritvele path, did rehras sahib and sohela sahib thinking that i would grow intrest. But I wasn't happy. Where I grew up eating JHATKA is allowed and when I went amritsar one of the Babaji told me that my amrit is khand due to consumption of meat. I told them it was JHATKA not HALAL but they still told me that I am not amritdhari any more and when i visited Hazur sahib they told me JHATKA is allowed.

So I was totally frustrated that i was living some fake live for almost three tears which seemed to me like unhappily ever after. I felt foolish for becoming AMRITDHARI as our one PANTH have different ideology over AMRIT and that too in TAKHAT sahibs one Takhat's jathedar advises you not to eat jhatka while other Takhat' jathedar says jhatka os not a problem and i can eat it being amrithdhari.

Then i tried reading SHRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB and all I understood according to my knowledge is that nothing matters not what you eat, or if you maintain sabat surat all that matters is that you live your life as humanly as possible.

So as now I came to realise that all that matters is humanity so i was wondering as you can become a sikh by amrit sanchar, is there any other way if you could just get out of sikhism without disgracing you family and can clean shave and become one with the crowd.?

as i feel being a sikh and still keeping my so called sabat surat i am living a fake life can I just ditch it all and become a normal person go totally bald cleanshave

The Sikh does not choose his Guru. The Guru chooses His Sikh.

If the destiny is written on your forehead, then you are His Sikh. All machinations... cutting hair, trying to please others doesn't matter. Amrit does not come from Sanchar and all human understanding is limited. Either the love of the Guru will well up in your heart, or..... Well, between a Sikh and His Guru is just a matter of time.

Thank you veerji, i was convincing myself the same from past three years but my question is simple is there any kriya or procedure in our religion to leave sikhi? Just want an answer in yes or no... Don't mean to offend anyone.

No, there no in and out ceremony. Sikhi is a way of life. Either one lives it or one does not.

Oh.. no "in" & out ceremony? Really ? Thrz definitely "in" ceremony by having "Amrit" but no for getting "out". Being a Sikh is no one time job, it's a test very second ! If some unfortunate really wants to get outta Sikhism, just get outta! Whats thrz to yell around & asking stupid questions

If your heart is not in it, it means you already left Sikhi. You say you are feeling forced to be in Sikhi and you wanna leave. By asking us questions in a way, you might end up being influenced by us to stay in Sikhi. If you want to leave Sikhi, you can just quietly leave without asking questions

why do want to give up Sikhi?

You didn't make any mistake if where you took Amrit from said you can have Jhatka then you can. Many Sikhs argue over meat each having their own opinion. You were blessed with Amrit for a reason, remain strong.

if such is your feeling, then you are already outta Sikhism. BTW you wont get any certificate from anybody as being declared non 'SIKH' !

You are tired of being a Sikh, thn there's no point in asking us questions right, since you have already made up your mind. Many of us don't want to take PAAP on our head by advising you the wrong thing. We also don't wanna be blamed in the future that you stayed in Sikhi cause we "influenced' you.

Wjkk wjkf I think you should do ardaas . Firstly i also get confused in rehat maryada but later i took support of guru granth sahib ji. Do what our gurbani says. Our sikh rehat maryada get mixed with impurities .if you are unhappy then do what your mind says.bcoz without inner satisfaction , love , trust you cannot be a true sikh.but kesh is imporatant for a sikh. In our ardaas w

sikha nu sikhi daan, kesh daan ....

Bhul chuk maaf krna ji

wjkkwjkf brother I took support of guru sahibji but and found that if I am not true to Guru Sahib how can I be true to anybody(including me). and one more doubt wasn't ardaas sahib written so that those who did not know how to ask guru sahib will have a way to beg(blessings, forgiveness, anything).

Dear Veerji, What is the guarantee that cutting your hair will make you happy again? You have follwed the way of the Guru. This in itself is a big thing, Doing Paath and reading the Bani is part of Sikh life, one has to earn the Gurus word, Whatever your circumstances you have been blessed with the Amrit, Dont let the devil take over you and do the clean shave etc and eat meat! Be strong and you will find the way... You will be greatful that you didnt give up for the desires of your heart, which is why being stong in Sikhi is really important, You will see the fruits of your prayers and when you are abit older, ( dont know if you married or not) but in the future this will be your foundations for your wife and children! Be strong! Think of all the Shaheed Martyrs who gave up their lives so that we could flourish. The Guru let his children go and fight and die for the cause of Sikhi so please dont give up!
