Sikhs follow the Guru..Sri Guru Granth sahib Ji...therefore we cannot leave our guru and follow something else...but I guess reading Bible for general purpose would not be wrong.

It is not about having so many spiritual sources, but living up to what the Teacher says.

The bible is a text comprised of stories, parables and historical accounts. It speaks to the head. The Siri Guru Granth Sahib is the embodiment of the Shabd Guru. That is, the sounds it contains literally transform your cells and your consciousness. It speaks to the soul.

I believe in studying all sacred texts from the Tao Te Ching, the puranas and smritis of the vedas to the Koran, the Torah and the Christian Bibles. Much understanding can be gained from this. The Guru Granth Sahib is quite different from all the others as it is not a 'holy book' per se, but our living Guru.

Bible is a great book, In Sikhism we are told that arguing over which religion is the best and pointing defects in other religious scriptures no one has attained God, so we should stay away from it.

Bible is a collection of book, some kings have also written in their personal opinions.

For example

  • She lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. Ezekiel 23:20 NIV
  • Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material. Leviticus 19:19
  • Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk. Exodus 23:19
  • When men fight with one another, and the wife of the one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of him who is beating him, and puts out her hand and seizes him by the private parts, then you shall cut off her hand. Deuteronomy 25:11-12

and So on, It also has very good things like Love thy neighbor and much more, my point is It might have been a holy book at one time, But some kings have had it edited for personal gains by kingsor Make themselves superior .

At medival times Bible was more like the Constitution. So we don't follow it.

It's not the holy book, but the living guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Show some respect.
