No we never worship pictures or statues as gods, but we keep pictures and statues around to inspire us and our own reverence. Our Guru is clear that God is within all things and cannot confined to a picture or a rock or a statue. the problem is when we become ritualized. This is true even for mathe tek to our Guru. If true reverence is not within the heart, it is all meaningless. Just a display. A Show. The true relationship with God and Guru lies within your own heart. You can pray anywhere. The Guru is always right here with us. Just close your eyes and pray from your heart. It is beautiful to have a 'sacred space' in your home where you can meditate and do paath. Adorn it as your heart tells you.
