ਵਸਤੂ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਦੂਜੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

One thing can be absorbed into another thing, but duality keeps them apart.

The previous lines of the shabad tells how it is futile to befriend a fool. He sees the world as his intellect let's him see it.

Other Shabad tells us how we are sleeping and that's why we see the reality (Vast) in a fragmented manner.

ਮਨੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਸਮਾਦਿ ॥੧॥

The mind is asleep, fascinated by Maya.

ਇਸੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਗਤੁ ਰਹੈ ॥

Those who remain awake in this house are very rare;

ਸਾਬਤੁ ਵਸਤੁ ਓਹੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

by doing so, they receive the whole thing.
