2018-05-04 03:35:22 -0500 marked best answer How to read banis ?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

It my summer holidays, and I've been doing some of my banis daily but not all 5. The problem is that I get many though when reading for example I get thoughts of bad stuff happening to my family and friends and I dont mean it but I get worried and stop reading my bani and say sorry to Waheguru, some times I get really bad thoughts of me saying bad stuff to the Guru, I dont mean this but it breaks my concentration and I say sorry to Guru Sahib Ji again. Should I be doing this ?

I want to read more banis but the thing is when these thoughts come into my head, it takes me much more to read my Japji Sahib in the morning, that I dont have time to read my other banis. Some times it takes me along time to read my Japji Sahib, that I get upset and sometimes cry because I really want to do my banis good.

I start Uni soon, so sometimes I wont be able to do Rehras Sahib and im kind of confused what to do, I used to listen to it on the train.

Currently I read my banis, and have a rough idea of the english meaning coming in my head and this requires me to do it at a slow pace. If I do it at a faster space I miss the meaning of certain parts, and feel guilty. So how should I be doing my banis ? or how do you do it ?

I feel more at peace when I slowly do Japji Sahib but then I run out of time to do other banis.

Should I slowly build up to do 5 banis daily ?

sorry for this long message, please forgive me if i said anything wrong or offensive.

2018-01-18 17:36:20 -0500 answered a question want to converting to islam but at same time want to be a singh

Why do you want to convert to Islam?

You can’t be Sikh and follow is Islam both teach very different things, as Bhai Gurdaas Ji says you can’t have your feet in two boats.

For example Sikhi teaches that their are different paths that lead to Waheguru, but Islam teaches it is the only path and all non believer will go to hell.

Sikhi teaches equality between different genders and Islam teaches the men are superior. You should also look up how non-believers (kafirs) in Islam can be treated especially females as they can be treated as property.

Watch the above videos.

You need to relax take slow steps at your pace, do araadas and have faith that Guru ji will solve your problems.

Your family cannot restrict you from Waheguru. Waheguru is always with you.

You should also talk to your family, and don't be anxious or nervous there's is no point in that will just waste your time.

Don't feel stressed or anxious relax.

My best guess would be to go in front of Guru ji and just express how you feel and ask for guidance and support.

2017-12-13 13:42:50 -0500 answered a question Can I temporarily be in a relationship with a Christian?

Take things slow and don’t force yourself, when you understand and are ready to do certain things then committing yourself to that is much more easier.

Keep learning a good resource of learning Sikhi is Basics of Sikhi on Youtube I will link a video of relationships with different faiths. https://youtu.be/gPaB8jFqlig

My view is Sikhi doesn’t allow interfaith Anand Karakj (the Sikh wedding), but also I don’t think it’s a good thing describe your relationship as temporary be committed to that otherwise your just leading someone on and might end up hurting them.

Also always ask questions a online Sikh community is https://www.reddit.com/r/Sikh think they have other people who converted into Sikhi so always good hearing what other people experienced.

2017-10-11 14:34:40 -0500 answered a question What is the purpose of my life? Part 2

What you have been through has been really tough, but Waheguru has given you strength to get by this. By what your describing you seem like a good parent, and looking to improve your children's life. You did the right thing but not forcing Sikhi on your wife, that way she never felt pressured and would follow Sikhi at her own pace which is key for developing love for Guru ji.

Set time for studying and doing paath, if you can listen to kirtan and study.

Older children don't like going to Gurdwara because they find it boring as they don't understand what's going on. Tell your children stories about the Gursikhs and Shaheeds at home for a short period, teach them slowly. You could try watching Sikh movies together like the Chaar Sahibzaade. But you have the full right to teach your children Sikhi, just don't force it. If there a classes at the Gurdwara maybe they can make friends and will want to go to the Gurdwara more.

If you want to get married that's completely up to you, if you think you have found the right person the take a Hukamnama and see what Guru ji says.

Always remember that Guru Ji is with you and will always support you. Guru Ji also resides in the Sangat, so if you can find some Sangat that will always help. Alternatively you can share your feeling on sites like this, www.sikhsangat.com, www.reddit.com/r/Sikh.

Try contacting Sikhhelpine as well, although they are based in the UK, they might be able to help you http://sikhhelpline.com.

Try to communicate with you friends and get a job to take your mind off things. Try doing some hobbies you like and talk to your family.

Nobody can predict the future, when I was young my parents went to an astrologer as I was ill. Nothing he said came to be true and the only way I got out of it was through mool mantar.

So keep faith in Guru Ji and take your mind off of things by doing stuff you like, Guru Ji will solve all your problems.

Remember in Anand Sahib, Guru Ji says the following image description

This path is hard and difficult, but we just don't give up and convert. We all go through ups and downs in our spiritual life, sometimes we have the upmost faith in Waheguru and other times we doubt his existence. Just relax and slowly build back up, remember to take small steps. To clear your problems do ardaas in front of Guru Ji and ask him for help, take a Hukamnama and a lot of your questions will be answered. Remember to ask questions to clear your doubt, ask on this forum or other forums like https://www.reddit.com/r/Sikh/?st=J7G....

2017-09-07 14:18:10 -0500 answered a question Still in love with amritdhari ex

You need to be careful, you are very young and need to move on from this guy. This guy might have seemed knowledgeable and a good Sikh, but his actions show otherwise. If he engaged in sexual activities with anyone he is no longer Amritdari. You need time to actually understand yourself, you my think your mature but when you get older you will realise that you weren't.

Why do you want to marry a guy who didn't stay true to his word and moved on in an instant?

As Sikhs we are meant to refrain from sexual relations before and outside of marriage. As StrongKaur said, ask for other things like ma'am or path. Do paath, keep faith in Guru Ji and try to move on, I know it will take time and be difficult but just keep faith and do things you enjoy. I'm in my early twenties and I can tell you that people don't know what they want in their future partners, your only 16 and have decided who you want to marry with out going through adult years of life.

Nobody will ever be free from the ups and downs of life, by doing paath, simran and seva you aim to achieve a state of samadhi a state where you are not effected by happiness and sadness. Remember sad and difficult times will always come, being strong and do ardaas.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji never said that quote, that's from a popular picture online. Guru Ji told us to respect every religion, but Guru Ji gave Sikhs specific code of conduct to follow. If a Sikh wants to have an Anand Karaj then it is between two Sikhs only, like Anmirt is only for a Sikh.

Nobody is born as a Sikh only Guru Ji can make a Sikh.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

I've been vegetarian for about 7 months now and need some help. Im under weight and I want to gain some weight and some muscle. I want to take protein bars/shakes to help me gain weight. Most products I have looked at are vegetarian and don't contain egg but because there made in places which has egg they say might contain egg. Can i eat this?

Also I have another question if a friend calls me over and i eat at there house can i eat their. Some of my friends are muslim and they have halal, and im not sure if i can. I think about this and the way the gurus lived, the Gurus would sit down and eat with anyone no matter on what religion or race like Guru Nanak Dev Ji thought us.

I also live in a family which does consume meat, and being the only vegetarian im confused at times and need some advice.

They way i feel about this is that as long as my food doesnt contain egg/meat, its fine to eat because it not harming any animal.

Please forgive me if i said anything incorrect or offensive.
