Can someone please explain or give references to various sites or books that explain Sikh views on sexuality and contraception? I am writing a report on it and comparing these values and principles to other top religions in the world. I never really went in depth on how Sikhi deals with sexuality etc, and there are so many different articles and sites out there that I'm not sure if they are valid or accurate, so just thought I'd come here and ask.. When I tie my turban I put part of it in my mouth (the first laar) as it is practical and easy for me to tie. But I have heard people complain that putting the turban in your mouth is wrong and disrespectful. I don’t understand why it is considered disrespectful?

Without putting it in my mouth I would have extreme difficulties tying it. I apologize if my ignorance has caused anyone offense.

I've heard that many Muslims think it is ok to lie, its part of their religion...since its apart of their religion (if this is true) but is it right? how do we accept that? why do Hindus cut their hair? i mean there are many things that i think are wrong in other religions but is it wrong to think that they are wrong (weird ?..i know!) ??? thanks!

Rhere is a major confusion in me regarding Sikhism in general, because some people refer to it as an ideology so to speak and many refer to it as a religion. Now as far as i understand there is a thin line of difference between ideology and religion. so plz if some body cud clarify two point for me

a) is Sikhism an ideology or a religion. b) if it is an ideology then people who are non sikhs and yet come under the realm of this ideology be called sikhs, even though they are not one..

Is that true that every person we meet is God? I have heard that God takes form of people. But there are many bad people so how can God take a form of a bad person.

I wanted to know that why do we pray and worship all the pictures? Are all the pictures of our guru real? Who has seen him what does he looks like??? We were advise to simply follow the guru granth shaib and the teachings in it. Then why do we worship all the picture and even statues? As we are aware that god is in us and he is everywhere. Why do we have to go to the gurdwara and pray as god is everywhere???We have to pray to the almighty god who made us and brought us to this world. Please i hope that you will be able to help me answer these questions. Thank you

I am a Sikh aged 18 currently at Univerity. I don't drink, smoke, take drugs. I have however cut hair. On recent social gatherings with friends i have noticed a large majority of pagwala drinking and smoking.

Am I a good sikh if I recite Japji sahib and rehras daily but have cut hair, or are pagwala better sikhs even if they take intoxicants.

Please help shed some light on this topic

I was wondering is it wrong for a Sikh to use contraceptives?

I'm a 18 yr old guy living in Delhi. I have kept my beard n hair. but now a days i feel sad to see around me sikhs with trimmed beard. my background is from rural punjab n there the condition is more bad. Sikhs have got their beard trimmed n kesh cut(my cousin did this recently) n when u ask them why u did this n they say coz of" headache "or some say to look "GOOD". R SIKHS NOT GOOD LOOKING(TO GALS)??? AND ONE MORE QUESTION IS OUR RELIGION DECLINING DUE TO PATITNESS(TRIMMED BEARD N KESH)????WhAT CAN B DONE 2 STOP THIS???????

I want to progress spiritually but i am afraid of my spiritual ego, is it possible to destroy it before one, begins or during different spiritual stages. Thank You.

Many of the discussions centered around homosexuality basically state that being Gay is accepted as the way God created you. When a Sikh friend was confronted about this belief he said it may be ok to be Gay but Sikhism would not permit sexual intercourse between homosexuals even in a committed, monogamous union because it is a form of unnatural lust.

My question is can two "married" homosexuals have sexual intercourse and still be following Gods teachings?
