5 Ks and ascetic yogis
Nanak criticized ascetic yogis wearing their garb saying "let patience be thine earrings" so why dp we wear 5 Ks if the physical appearance is worthless? I mean no disrespect to guru.

He didn't criticize their garb. He used it to instruct them. He was saying look at WHY you do these things and what is behind them. He showed them they could be "bigger" rather than stick in their small sect, be with all mankind and share their knowledge with everyone. BTW, I look at our kakkars as tools... reminders... not adornments.
