There are many reasons why Guru Ji himself took Amrit:

1. The Panja Pyra are very important in Sikhi they are the physical form of Guru Ji, and they can give us Hukams (commands) and we must follow them. Hence showing us their importance.

2. To shows us the importance and value of Amrit, as Guru Ji took it himself.

3. It shows how much humility Guru Ji had he created Khalsa and he himself took Amrit from them.
