In the early 1980s, our Sikh women were being raped and there was disrespect of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Sant Jarnail Singh Bhinderwale brought weapons to Harimandir Sahib because the government was opposed to him and his men due to his challenging of the Indian government's corruption under Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi, the prime minister sent forces to kill Bhinderwale, and he was killed along with 1000s of other Sikhs, innocent like him. More women were raped, and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was burned and urinated on. The Akal Takht and Harimandir Sahib were nearly demonlished and hardly stood up. From this, Sikhs want freedom and want a new nation called "Khalistan", meaning "land of the pure ones". At the moment there are no large threats against the Sikh community like in the '80s. But when this sort nof thing happens again, Khalistan will come. Raj Karega Khalsa. Khalistan Zindabad Ji!
