It has nothing to do with "believing" in God, or having faith in God. Nor does it have anything to do with being "religious."
Being "one with God" is our natural state. It is the experience that each of us is one small part of the whole and you feel connected to all things, all beings, and to the Pavan Guru that lies within our own breath. In that state, at peace and feeling total relaxation and complete trust, we are masters of the moment, and in that compassionate presence we experience the One in all beings and in ourselves.
