Sikhism on Divorce and Re-Marriage?

  1. Is divorce allowed as per the tenets of Sikhism?

  2. If yes, then what is the exact procedure. At the time of marriage, both bride and the groom promises before Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj that they would spend their life together but if the couple decides to quit then how exactly do the Sikh couple take permission from the Guru Ji?

  3. As per the tenets of Sikhism, if a Sikh after taking divorce decides to go for the second marriage then what are the procedures he/she has to go through before Guru Ji.

  4. If a woman gets pregnant before marriage, then is it allowed as per the tenets of Sikhism for that pregnant woman (particularly after 120 days of her pregnancy) to go for the Lavan Phere? If yes, then that would obviously mean the pregnant bride along with the breathing baby inside her womb taking Lavan with the groom. Wouldn’t that mean three people taking the Lavan?

  5. If a Sikh man or woman wants a divorce on the issue of his/her partner committing adultery then is it allowed as per the Sikh Rehat Maryada?
