I have been in a relationship for over 4 years. The guy is a family friend. In the relationship of 4 years we have a lot of ups and downs. Finally I had convinced my parents to get me engaged to him. After getting engaged I felt like he was becoming controlling and paranoid. After 8 months of being engagment I had made a decision of ending the relationship. After 2 months we got in contact again and now want to get married and move on with life. My parents are okay with us getting back together but his parents are disagreeing because breaking the engagment brought shame into their family.

Is it wrong to get re engaged to the same person?
