Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fathe!

Can anyone please tell me why Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave Sikh girls the name Kaur which means Prince and why not Queen or Princess? Why did Guru Ji give sikh guys the name Singh (King) and girls the name Kaur (Prince). Although I reckon it preety kool that he named us prince and not princess but why?????? This has puzzled me and I think about it a lot can someone please tell me? I have thought about it a lot but still have no clue. I know it has something to do with equality but howwwwwwww???????? Why Kaur why not just Singh?????

I get really confused because in people say it means prince and why not Queen or Princess? Why did others say it means princess.
