Getting enough iron

I've been quite tired for many months now, and I seem to always get very low iron if I don't take supplements. Unfortunately they don't sit well with my stomach so I always seem to go on and off them. I am vegetarian and of course as a woman I lose blood every month which doesn't help the iron situation. I'm wondering how other Sikhs manage this issue, like what kinds of food are you eating that have iron, particularly punjabi food. I know there are lots of online articles on iron rich foods but I want to know specifically how we can manage with our punjabi diet to fit in enough iron. I think some dhaals have a lot of iron but we cook sabji some days so I can see myself going through a typical day not getting much.
