Doing Ardas For someone else

I did ardas for someone who is ill in our community and gone for Surgery. I've done ardas for other people sometimes at their request like Christian friends will say please pray because I'm having a tough time. I think one part of me totally has been doing that because we do ardas for Sarbat Da Bhalla so why not others. But my uncle brought up the point last yr that we are using up our own Naam and they should do ardas for themselves. Then my mom said today that Granthis do ardas for everyone and that's fine because it is in large sangat, but she wondered if it was us taking on a burden when we are doing someone's ardas. I guess I'm confused. My heart tells me to keep doing Ardas when my conscience pulls me to help someone. I initially disagreed with those ideas now I wonder about those points about the Naam and the burden (bojh) we take on, or that each person needs to learn to do their own ardas? Thanks.
