The other day i was watching an Indian soap opera where in the lady character was shown going to the Gurdwara and requesting the Bhai Sahib of the Gurdwara to perform Ardas on behalf of her and her husband. The Bhai Sahib refused to do the Ardas, the reason he gave was your husband too must be present since the lady visited alone. I was completely baffled when i watched the programme on seeing Bhai Sahib's refusal.

  1. So, does that mean that the person ought to be present physically if the Ardas is to be done on his/her behalf.

  2. Can the Hukamnama be taken Online or it has to be taken from the physical form of the Guru Sahib only.

From what i understand, the person does NOT need to be physically present if the Ardas is being done on his/her behalf, and the Hukamnama can be taken online.
