Few years back i visited Gurdwara Sahib in my city, the moment i entered Gurdwara i saw a non-Keshadhari man wearing a cap standing in front of Guru Maharaj and saluting Guru Granth Sahib Ji. There was no other person present amongst the Sangat at that time. Probably he was saluting out of respect for the Guru Ji.

But the question arises is, is that the right procedure to do so in Gurdwara because as per our tradition when we visit Gurdwara we bow in front of Guru Sahib with folded hands. So, is saluting Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj right or wrong?

You cannot know what is in another man's mind. Perhaps in his mind he was showing deepest respect. A full Mathe Tek when done with absolute humility and complete surrender is what we usually do when you come before our Guru, but how many have you seen "go through the motions" of bowing while their mind is somewhere else? They are just bowing "for show." If you are looking for black or white... right or wrong... you won't find it here. It is what lies in the heart upon meeting the Guru that matters.
