Why is it so bad to slander a saint? Why do Guru Arjan Dev Ji (in sukhmani sahib) emphasize and make it sound like it's the worst thing ever you can do in life?

It is the worst thing you can do because a saint is very close to god. Santan dukh paye tey dukhi. (When saints are unhappy god is unhappy) when you slander a saint you are slandering god. Because saints meditate and make an effort to bring people on a good path. And slandering a saint is quite egotistical, our guru wants us to be humble but especially in front of saints. Pauri 13 of sukhmani sahib emphasizes this Sant ke nindak mat hoye Maleen (slanders of saints have polluted intellect) and when your intellect is posioned you cant be one with god and will keep burning in the 5 evils (anger, lust, greed, attachment, pride)
