Hi so I saw this video and just got me thinking do i rely on what my body is telling me, or should I just give my body only a set amount of food regardless of the situation. Even sleep. is this part of the rehat maryada too. or is this just something that allows us to be in a meditative state.

currently i just eat whatever (vegetarian)
but can someone give me a day listing perfect breakfast lunch and dinner, and what the perfect snacks are that will allow us to still remain in calm state. (make it vegetarian) and also the portions too.

and how much should we sleep in a day approximately?

What you eat depends on your age, your constitution, where you live, etc. Food has the qualities of the three gunas. Light foods that grow above the ground like fruits and nuts are sattvic, Foods that grow at ground level like daal and grains are rajasic. Heavy foods that grow underground (along with meat) are tamasic.

Basically, your main foods should be fruit and veg, daal and whole grains. Avoid fast food and processed foods. Cook with prayer.

Above all, eat food cooked with love in the vibration of Naam.

As for sleep - your need varies with age and lifestyle. Although 5-7 hours is great, it need not be all at once. You may sleep - wake - and then sleep again, or you may be very efficient at taking naps so that nighttime sleep is shorter. There is no hard and fast rule.

Remember: Per Ang 305, Line 16 - "Gur Sathigur Kaa Jo sikh Akhaaeae S Bhalakae Outh Har Naam Dhhiaavai" Guru Ram Das Ji makes it clear that only those who shall rise in the early morning hours and meditate can call themselves a Sikh of the Guru. It is through this process that the Gurmukh eradicates his or her ego (Vaar 9, Pauri 3).
