I am Amritdhari Sikh from North India and currently staying in Bangalore(India) for job. I have few concerns.

  1. I am usually getting late in nights from work so not able to do nitnem, however I am doing Japji sahib and ardas to Guru Nanak Dev ji. Will it work? if not, what should I do.

  2. Bigger problem is, I am staying in rented house with friends.. Being in Pardes, I have to manage this. One of my roommate even drinks and smoke (However he smokes outside), but drinks at room. I don't like but can't say NO to them or change flat (financial issues). Also all of my roommates are nice to me, this reason is not worth enough to leave the flat.

  3. I am still keeping 5 Kakars, keeping myself away from Drink/non-veg/jutha. and trying my best to stay on the right path.

Please Suggest me how far it is going right?

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh!

Your love and devotion to the Guru shine through in your question. Every circumstance Guru Ji puts us in is for a reason. We have to keep learning our lessons. That is a Sikh. Your sincere Japji and ardas will work. You will resume your Nitnem when you are able. If your roomates are not trying to make you drink with them, it is okay. Just keep up, be steady and kind to them. Live as you are. You will teach by example. You don't have to say anything. Just be kind. Do not fight. Do what seva you can. It is okay.
