Is it ok for the brides mother to do the palla ceremony instead of father if father is not apart of brides life?

If the father is not available, the bride may choose anyone from her family to do the palla. May your marriage be blessed. May you walk side by side through life supporting each other in serving the Guru and the Sangat.
