I recently found an abandoned kitten, she was very small, only 4 ounces. For three weeks I tried everything to help her make it. I woke up every three hours around the clock to feed her, a took her to the vet and tried everything that I knew to help her gain weight. She did well for awhile, but then slowly started to fade away. She died. I can't help but feel very responsible for her passing, I feel as though I was given a chance to help nurture a creation of God and I failed. I suppose my question is, what should I meditate on to help learn spiritually from this experience and gain comfort for this type of loss?

Animals are not like people. You don't need to do anything. Her soul has continued on its journey. You provided love and comfort. You did exactly as your heart told you. You are not responsible for her death.
