Sir, I am a 16 year old girl. My entire family consists of sikhs and I try and do my baani, if not regularily then often. When I was 14 I discovered how to masturbate and ever since then have been struggling like mad to overcome the thoughts and the impulse. I have written and prayed and apologised to waheguruji and promised him that I would overcome kaam but it simply never holds. I do not think I have gone longer than a month without masturbating. It kills me,the feeling of guilt over shadows my day. Many a times I "accidently" stumble upon pornographic images and the feeling strenghtnes. I am tired sir of this and want to stop. I want the pain to stop and mostly I want to really, truly become an Amritdhari sikh one day. I dont even trust my self control anymore. How am I even worthy of all that I have been blessed with?

Dear one, first of all Your problem isn't masturbation. Your problem is guilt, shame and low self-esteem. Karma is produced by intent. I doubt that you have any bad intent when you masturbate. Please understand correctly the meaning of "sin." A "sin" is anything that takes you away from experiencing your own divine union with the Infinite. A "sin" is an action that makes you forget who you really are. You seem to have a strong sense of shame and guilt. THAT is the sin, not masturbating which is quite insignificant compared to your guilt.

You have nothing to apologize for, so please let go of feeling bad about yourself. Kaam is a natural thing. It is a part of life. You simply don't want it to take over your life, and that is a question of creating balance in your life: sadhana, physical exercise, school, seva and relaxation time - balanced. Remember, it all starts with your thoughts. Thoughts lead to feelings and feelings lead to actions. To train your mind, you must develop your meditation. There is a SikhNet video on this topic. It's called "The Five Challenges."

A daughter of Guru Gobind Singh never has anything to be guilty about. It is your own feelings that you must deal with. Is your daily sadhana strong? Is your relationship with your Guru strong? Take your guilt and give it to the Guru and get on with your life. The only punishment you will receive is the daily punishment that you are giving yourself. Smile and be happy. You are perfect just the way you are.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fateh.

BHenji, I would like to suggest some points, which i feel may help, I have been suffering from the same, lately I was blessed with amrit by guruji's apar kirpa, Guru Ji explains in bani, that the 5 evils (kam, krodh, lobh, mohn and ahankaar), distroy the human being if they are not controlled. Kam is the stongest of all and it can surely lead us astray from guru sahib, We as human being are ONE, but these evils are 5, know Guru Gobind Singh Ji has the power, as he said Sawa Lakh se Ek-ladau, Thabae Gobind Singh Naam Khalau, so the answer lies in what guru ji says, we do not have the power to fight the evils, but by guru ji's Kirpa only, What I can surely say is ask Guru ji for his blessings everyday in ardass and do naam simran.

Extremely dangerous this Sin.

You must first recognize that it is not a mere emotion or non living entity. Kaam is a real Evil Force that is classified in some beliefs as a head demonic entity that has control over this power. It is based in one of the extreme lower realms of Hell and is responsible for dragging many many souls to the dammed. You must not give it an inch. It is a potent killer of souls that is being used intensely by Kalyug to bring down mankind.

You must wear the full Armour of of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This evil does not even attempt to come to a soul that is doing simran as the Naam is supreme. The five evils fear God and his divine name. Watch what you eat as Kaam is attached to all meats and you can understand why alcohol is called Wines and SPIRITS!!!!!
