Just a question, when you're doing naam simran at a very beginner stage, if you use other mantra's such as " Gur Ang Sang", is it respectful and okay? Or should one always use "Satnam Sri Waheguru" ?

It depends on what you think Naam Simran is? Is it about speaking Shabad? Or absorbing it? Living it? Is true simran just listening or doing?

I agree with Kanwaljit Singh's answer. What is naam simran to you? There is no "right" or "wrong" when you do simran. Remember, it's not just about respect. Gurbani is a living frequency, which changes you so you may embrace the One. You may use any mantra you wish, and live the intuition and knowledge the meditation gives you.

well firstly in answering your question, it doesnot matter what or how you start or what you say during meditation aslong as it is relivent to god. be it a mantra, or just waheguru. as your spirituality develops you will relize how the knowledge is all placed together.
when we are doing simran we are contemplating inwardly with breath.
when we do jaap we are repeating the name of god outwardly vibrating upon the name of god etc.
know the difference :)
