I suggesting using Danta Manjan (dental cleaning) powder. Some people also use soap water with lemon juice. Whatever takes out the rust. Then immerse it in a layer of oil to store!

Could you please explain the this? I have been looking for answer to this from a long time. So where would you get sand from in western countries? If you clean this way , will it be free from bacteria and all ? Would you use dish cleaning soap after? Thanks :D
cleaning with sand is in mariyada...i also mix some lime juice or vinegar in the sand to clean...its much more faster...akallllll....n i am in Canada...
