sat sri akaal!! Long story short,I ran away from my family couple of months ago. i just wanted to go to university away from my family. we have never been close and it had gotten to the point where we couldnt ever be civil to each other. In short, we never got along, too much tension in the house, family refused to respect me at all because I had made choices in the past that they as an amritdhari family did not approve of. Now that iv been gone for a while my mother cries everyday begging me to come home and the rest of the family refuses to talk to me. So my question is how do i make them understand that I do love them but need to be away from them because I feel ashamed of myself around them. I have never lived up to their standards and I just want to settle down in one place and go to university. How do I reassure my mother that Ill not be partying or living against sikhism. I just need my space. I love my family and no matter what do not plan on abandoning them just need to live away from them. Sounds hypocritical doesnt it ? I wish i could just calm my mother down. Maybe if there is a shabd that could help the situation. sorry if i sounded very confusing. any advice would be appreciated at all. thank you regards confused and well meaning sikh girl.

explain to them that the earth is here for us to explore and gain new experiences, and being constraint within a family who needs some time to acknowledge that a part of the family is separated is not allowing you to enjoy a family life

Look this is what you accpect from a khalsa family your desicions have effected others because of ego and self image even pride they believe they are ruined but you are on a spiritual voyage and will alsways find the guru on your doorstep when you are lost again. sister ji i am 14 and have been through it all enough about me though. you must love your mother and father as the guru says if you dont respect your parents all efoorts in trying to love god are made in vein- i believe the shabad says dont take my quote for sure though it isnt exact (bul chuck maff lahivaand) i understand that you love your parents just promise that youll visit them. i have the perfect shabad for you that guru arjan dev jis mother sang to him when he had to go away when he was a child he never forgott it and then wrote it in our guru true love. the famous **

> poota mata ki asees translates to : Oh child this is your mothers prayer*.....etc..

ask your mother to sing it to you and thus she must let you move on here is the full shabad. it is also important for our parents not to get attached to us after all we belong to the guru and mata sahib kaur ji and god.
