what is the minimum size for a kirpan to wear as an amritdhari.some say 3", some 5" some say 9". what is is the general consensus on what the size of a kirpan should be. PS. i talking about the kirpan you wear under your clothes and is on you 24/7
You should wear a 9 inch kirpan at least if not bigger because it protects you from maya.

just think... is a 5" kirpan able to protect not just u but also others around you when they need help. Do you feel safe when your wearing the kirpan?
to me a kirpan of around 12" is what makes me feel safe. when I grow up and am independent and mature I want a 12" one cause its well a kirpan and the kirpan I wear is around 7". I'm assuming your measuring the 'sharp bit' and not the handle.
It actually up to you what size kirpan u want as long as you are confident that it can protect you.

the kirpan or shri sahib must use to protect yourself and others so i recommend use minimum 9 inch...and love shastars and bani ....akallll

What about at school, i go to a school were the kirpan is not allowed, and i wear a kirpan on a necklace, so what should i do, should i get a two-inch kirpan, or just wear my 5 inch kirpan that i have regular. What should a amritdhari sikh do if his school doesn't allow a kirpan to come on school grounds. Where could i buy a two-inch kirpan, because my friend says wear a two-inch kirpan, but i only have a necklace kirpan, and a 5 inch kirpan. What should i do? my school has said that if i wear a kirpan to school, they will expel me, and i go to one of the best schools in america.
you can where the 4-5 inches one at school no one will stop you. if the school trys to you must first answer with grace and refuse to remove it and then call the sikh helpline who will sort it out. i where a 3 inch kirpan teer and 2 inch kirpan in my ghol dastar/ dumalla at schoolno one says anything even when i used to where my patka the teachers new and the swords where hidden at the back a sikh must be shastardhari carry his/her kirpan
