QUALIA: What it is like to have an experience Qualia include the ways things look, sound and smell, the way it feels to have a pain, and more generally, what it's like to have experiential mental states. (‘Qualia’ is the plural of ‘quale’.) Qualia are experiential properties of sensations, feelings, perceptions and, more controversially, thoughts and desires as well. But, so defined, who could deny that qualia exist?

Is this the thing Gurbani keeps repeating ?

Qualia are subjective human experiences. What is the connection to Gurbani? Do you have a specific bani in mind?

aapeh ka-utak karai anad choj. He Himself performs and plays His amusements and games. aapeh ras bhogan nirjog. He Himself enjoys pleasures, and yet He is unaffected and untouched.

Withdrawing the attention from the sense organs (closing the nine gates) the shashrara (the 10th gate - dasam duar) opens. It is not the qualia, but the non-attachment to them that Gurbani speaks of.

I think Qualia is the source of all desires in us, it may be the intangible thing that is called God
