the dualities of desire and aversion arise from illusion. all living beings in the material realm are from birth deluded by these.

It means maya. Clinging and aversion are the polar states of the mind. When the mind becomes balanced and neutral, then one recognizes the ways in which the chit (mind stuff) moves and we can settle in our shuniya (zero point.) This is the state of Sahaj in which the power of the mind to pull focus away from Naam is confronted successfully.
