What are the characterstics of a Enlightened person or awake person?
ਜਿਉ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਅਰੁ ਪੇਖਨਾ ਐਸੇ ਜਗ ਕਉ ਜਾਨਿ ॥ जिउ सुपना अरु पेखना ऐसे जग कउ जानि ॥ Like a dream and a show, so is this world, you must know.
ਇਨ ਮੈ ਕਛੁ ਸਾਚੋ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨੩॥
इन मै कछु साचो नही नानक बिनु भगवान ॥२३॥
None of this is true, O Nanak, without God. ||23||
ਸੂਰਜ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਲ ਕਾ ਜਲੁ ਹੂਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ सूरज किरणि मिले जल का जलु हूआ राम ॥ Sūraj kiraṇ mile jal kā jal hū▫ā rām. The rays of light merge with the sun, and water merges with water.
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲੀ ਸੰਪੂਰਨੁ ਥੀਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ जोती जोति रली स्मपूरनु थीआ राम ॥ Joṯī joṯ ralī sampūran thī▫ā rām. One's light blends with the Light, and one becomes totally perfect.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦੀਸੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ॥ ब्रहमु दीसै ब्रहमु सुणीऐ एकु एकु वखाणीऐ ॥ Barahm ḏīsai barahm suṇī▫ai ek ek vakẖāṇī▫ai. I see God, hear God, and speak of the One and only God.
ਆਤਮ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਕਰਣਹਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥ आतम पसारा करणहारा प्रभ बिना नही जाणीऐ ॥ Āṯam pasārā karaṇhārā parabẖ binā nahī jāṇī▫ai. The soul is the Creator of the expanse of creation. Without God, I know no other at all.
ਆਪਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕੀਆ ॥ आपि करता आपि भुगता आपि कारणु कीआ ॥ Āp karṯā āp bẖugṯā āp kāraṇ kī▫ā. He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer. He created the Creation.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ॥੪॥੨॥ बिनवंति नानक सेई जाणहि जिन्ही हरि रसु पीआ ॥४॥२॥ Binvanṯ Nānak se▫ī jāṇėh jinĥī har ras pī▫ā. ||4||2|| Prays Nanak, they alone know this, who drink in the subtle essence of the Lord. ||4||2||
ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥ असटपदी ॥ Asatpaḏī. Ashtapadee:
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ॥ ब्रहम गिआनी सदा निरलेप ॥ Barahm gi▫ānī saḏā nirlep. The God-conscious being is always unattached,
ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਲ ਅਲੇਪ ॥ जैसे जल महि कमल अलेप ॥ Jaise jal mėh kamal alep. as the lotus in the water remains detached.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਦੋਖ ॥ ब्रहम गिआनी सदा निरदोख ॥ Barahm gi▫ānī saḏā nirḏokẖ. The God-conscious being is always unstained,
ਜੈਸੇ ਸੂਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਕਉ ਸੋਖ ॥ जैसे सूरु सरब कउ सोख ॥ Jaise sūr sarab ka▫o sokẖ. like the sun, which gives its comfort and warmth to all.
