Many are taking the fast if pooran vasi tomorrow for guru nanaks birthday?

Is this a sikh thing to do?

I thought fasts aren’t undertaken in sikhi?

You're right Waheguru jio, there's no such thing as taking fasts in Sikhi; as clearly stated in Asa di vaar (by Guru Nanak Dev ji). lines from shabad below:

a(n)n na khaiaa saadh gavaiaa ||

One who does not eat the corn, misses out on the taste.

bahu dhukh paiaa dhoojaa bhaiaa ||

One obtains great pain, in the love of duality.

Fasting causes reduced Blood Sugar in body, one of the effects of that is feeling light headed or enlightened.

Some people got carried away with it and thought they are experiencing God
