HIV is not spread through saliva. Take a look at this link: https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/transm... Extremely rarely can be transmitted by kissing if: "Deep, open-mouth kissing if both partners have sores or bleeding gums and blood from the HIV-positive partner gets into the bloodstream of the HIV-negative partner. HIV is not spread through saliva." as you can tell that would certainly be an odd scenario. HIV can lead to AIDS, AIDS is like the end stage diseases that people get from HIV. These are called "AIDS defining illnesses" meaning the immune system is so low from the HIV that you get AIDS. Most people with HIV dont get AIDS anymore in western countries because we have good anti-retroviral drugs to prevent that.

You can get the herpes virus by kissing though.

Can this cause death?

yes people can die of HIV/AIDS. It kills the immune system so they die of illnesses that normal people fight off. But with medications nowadays the amount of deaths has been reduced significantly from the 80s.
