Ssa ji,

I’m a 20 year old girl, and have never cut or trimmed my hair. I used to have really thick and volumed hair. However, from the past year my hair has started to fall off and my hair has gone extremely thin. I have a lot of dead hair and split ends at the end of my hair. I’ve tried eating a lot of collagen , etc tablets to get healthy hair but everything has failed. I went to a hairdresser and she said that i will have to at least trim my hair once for my hair to get healthy but the problem is I don’t want to cut my hair and go away from guru ji. I do path everyday and I’m scared that if I trim my hair something bad might happen to me or my loved ones? I would really appreciate someone’s advice and guidance.

Bhool chuk maaf krna ji.

Your hair dresser is mistaken. It is in their business interest to cut hair after all. They make money off of it. Have you tried putting oil in your hair? I use almond, some people use coconut (but not if its cold where you live) or mustard seed (but the smell isnt good). You dont need to trim your hair. The dead hairs will fall out on their own and you will grow new hairs that are healthy. Are you stressed? That can lead to hair loss, and Did you go to your doctor to get bloodwork to make sure your thyroid is ok?

Thank you for your reply. I've tried all different sorts of oil, coconut, almond and olive oil but nothing seems to work. I get blood testing done every 6 months, and have no issue.

I have a similar problem, what I do is, braid my hair and oil it the night before shampooing it. These are both different things, I don't braid and then oil. I try to braid or put my hair in a bun often. It's reduced my hair fall.

i keep mine in a braid all day too so maybe there's something to that! maybe try the oiling before Kaur27? I do it after but if it doesnt seem to work maybe oiling it prior may be better for you like tryingtobasikh said. how long have you been making the changes- the full year?

I just don't see if you cut it at the bottom and the new hair is still the same at the top how that resolves anything for the new hairs health (and that hair is going to fall out anyways?)

It is a myth that trimming helps it grow, I even looked it up to double check. the hair grows from the follicles so it doesnt make any sense. But we should come up with some ideas to help you with your hair regardless I think
