I was wondering if an "Indian" Sikh is allowed to marry a "white, black, brown, or any other race" of Sikh if they both share the same values and the same Sikhi way of life? (Both Amritdharis). I asked my mom this question, and she said it was more preferable to marry someone from the same race. Although, I want to know if marrying someone of another race is against Sikhism. Are differences in skin color really that big of a deal?

Dear friend it is perfectly fine to marry someone from another race if they are both amritdhari sine race and caste is totally against Sikhism all humans whether they are man or woman; black, brown or white are all equal in God's eyes. Marrying someone from another caste is not against Sikhism and who ever says that it is is very very wrong and is not Guru's Sikh and saying things that are totally wrong in Sikhism

Well yes it can be in society people seem to judge others simply because of their colour and race and caste and this is not kool. And yeah it can be not preferable for other people but it is not against Sikhism.

Ummmm you can marry anyone you like. Sikhism was created to get rid of the caste system and Sikhism says everyone is equal, color and race doesn't matter.
What your mother is saying is different. By saying, "preferable to marry your own race", she probably means that if you marry someone outside of your race or caste, there will be cultural/family value differences, nothing else.
When a person becomes a Sikh, their caste and race doesn't matter because at the end of the day, that person is a SIKH!
