Correcting Akhand Paath Mistakes
When I sit to listen to Akhand Paath I read along on an app to understand the translations. There is an aunty in our community that makes many mistakes. Of course everyone makes a few mistakes, but she makes large errors such as looking up at the time and them missing several lines of Gurbani (one time a whole page) because she can't find her place again. she reads very fast, making mistakes in each line she reads, so that the Gurbani cannot really be understood just by listening to what she is reading (rather than re-reading the line, she just continues on having misread). I have wanted to approach her but I felt this would be inappropriate of me to mention as I am much younger and it would be out of place for me to tell her. I had hoped that someone else would listen and tell her but it happens every weekend. Should I just keep quiet and hope that one day someone else tells her, or just accept that she is doing her best? I think when you are reading Akhand Paath in front of everyone it should be read carefully so that the sangat who is listening can actually get the meaning and understand.
