ਜੇ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਦੈ ਮੰਗਣਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਓਲਾਮਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਹੀ ॥੮॥੧॥ If someone goes out to beg for what is already in his own home, then he should be chastised. ||8||1||

Satsriakal ji, what exactly is the meaning of the verse above? When Guruji talks about going out to beg for what is already in his own home, is he refering to home in the literal sense, or home as in our body? Also what exactly is the context of this quote?

Thank you for clearing my confusion on the matter.

The full tuk is: Nanak has obtained the glorious greatness of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. There is no action higher than this. If someone goes out to beg for what is already in his own home, then he should be chastised. || 8 || 1 ||

What Guru Ji means is that God is inside of you. The state of Naam is already within your own consciousness. Only the focus on the ego prevents us from experiencing this. That is Maya. If someone is asking others to enlighten him, or expecting a sant or other person to initiate him, then he should be corrected by redirecting the attention within through Paath, simran and meditation. The thing the person is seeking from others (mukti) already lies within himself.
