Books about Sikh History

Does anyone know an easy to read book about Sikh history in English? Even a children's book or illustrated book may be good. I read the first half (vol 1) of Khuswant Singh's book but I found it to be hard to follow, and had too many footnotes. I have found great books for the history of the 10 Gurus, but I'm struggling to find books that talk about what happened in our history after that

Have you checked out the Internet Archive? A simple search for "19th century sikh history" turned up lots of books! All are freely readable and/or downloadable from the Archive.
