Is Sikhism a failed religion?

I am a 45 year old Indian Muslim man. I have few questions to ask regarding Sikhism.

Why Sikhs have to keep untrimmed and unshaved bodily hairs?
Why despite Sikhism being approximately 550 year old religion, the number of adherents of the Sikh faith is merely 25 million only. Total Muslim population in this world in the last 1400 years has reached 1.7 billion. So, this way if we calculate in the next 850 years Sikhs won’t even reach 50 million.

I did ask this question to one of the tallest Sikh religious leader in India and he told me that we don’t preach our religion.

I asked him back if that is so then why do Sikhs keep saying that Sikhism is meant for the whole humanity but the fact is Sikhism has remained an ethnic Punjabi faith. And do you expect the non-Sikhs themselves to read your faith without any contribution from your side and the Sikh religious leader had no answer to my question.

Not only quantity wise but also quality wise Sikhs lag behind. I have been to numerous Punjabi Sikh weddings. On the day of their wedding the Punjabi Sikh grooms do grow little beard and wear a turban but the very next day during the reception parties, they shave off their beards and throw off their turbans. I did ask many Punjabi Sikh grooms as to what is the exact tradition and they all replied as to who cares for Sikhism these days. They said that they just wore the turban on the wedding day to look a bit different.

That clearly indicates that quality wise also Sikhs are not pure.

I have visited Punjab numerous times, the only place on earth having 58% Sikh population but Punjab is the place with the highest crime rate in the entire North India, terrorist activities are on the rise and corruption is at an all time high. Sikh men of Punjab need only one thing in breakfast, lunch, and dinner and that is Daru(liquor).
As far as Punjabi Sikh women are concerned, they love going to parties and discos. Today majority of them elope and marry non-Sikh men.

So, my question is, Sikhs neither have quantity nor quality, isn’t Sikhism a failed religion on earth today?

All the problems the Sikhs face today is because for the Punjabi Sikh community Sikhism and Punjabi culture are synonymous. If you ask any Punjabi Sikh sitting in Chandigarh, Sikh from Lahore, in Kuala Lumpur, in London or be at any part of the Globe as to what is Sikhi, then he will reply back Sikhi means being Punjabi.

And being Punjabi means doing Pungra-Shungra, Daru-Sharu, Kukad-Shukad and Kudi-Shudi. Now, all this are in complete contradictions to the Sikh faith which teaches us Sewa, Simran, Daya and Santokh.

For the younger generation Punjabi Sikhs, going to Gurdwara means do the "Matha Tek" have langar, flaunt their latest Mobile Phones, and the Punjabans flaunting their latest fashion Salwar Suits, spend a nice weekend and then return back home.

On the other hand, the White Sikhs or the Gore Sikhs after deep study of the Sikh faith embraced Sikhism. Almost all of them are Sabat Soorat. They are the true followers of the Sikh Panth. When one sees Gore Sikhs, there seems to be ray of hope but when one sees Punjabi Sikhs it seems Sikhism is in DOLDRUMS.

1- Our Guru ji asked us to. Sikhs have a distinct appearance so you can easily differentiate us from a Muslim or a Hindu. We have a duty to care for others and uphold righteousness, so if a person sees a Sikh of the Guru they know they can be trusted.

2 - Numbers don't really matter. Sikhs have been oppressed since our inception mainly by Hindu and Muslim governments who felt threatened by us, at one point due to the Mugals we lost over half of our population. Also Sikhs do not have a home country whereas Hindus have India and Islam having many, hence another factor which prevents us from spreading.

3 - Sikhs do preach their religion when the British saw how powerful Punjab was in terms of warriors and spirits, the British actively pursued to prevent us from preaching our religion and since then has stuck. But due to recent changes in western countries, Sikhs have begun to preach again and has proven really effective.

4 - You seem to have confused Punjabis and Sikhs. In the UK where I'm from, 90% of sexual grooming cases of underage girls involve Muslim gangs, also if we look at terror attacks many are conducted by Muslim groups. Now I can use your methodology of judging a whole religion based on a few people and say the quality of Muslims is also not pure. But are these people representative of Islam?

5 - Maybe you should do some research on Sikhs outside of Punjab. Sikhs in the UK are the second most secure financial group in the UK, the most charitable and has the lowest crime rate in the whole of the UK.

Gn, u r sadly mistaken. Point 1. u say that, if a person sees a Sikh of the Guru they know they can be trusted, rather in the western countries when someone sees a Sikh male then he is looked down upon, hated and gets thrashed. Often slogans r raised against Sikhs that u guys go back to Punjab.

In Point 2. u say that Numbers don't really matter. But just imagine if there is an All-Out-War between Sikhs and Muslims then who will win the battle, will it be just 25 million Sikhs vs 1.7 billion Muslims. Obviously u Sikhs would be wiped out of this Planet if the war breaks out.

In Point 3. u say that the British actively pursued to prevent us from preaching our religion and since then has stuck. Now u r openly conceding the defeat of the Sikhs that means Britishers r all the more powerful than the Sikhs that they were easily able to stop the Sikhs from preaching.

In Point 4. u say that In the UK 90% of sexual grooming cases of underage girls involve Muslim gangs. The fact is Sikh girls get tempted when they see heavily built and good looking Muslim men especially the Pathan guys..Sikh girls get sexually attracted to Pathans and r willing to marry them.

In Point 5. u say that Sikhs in the UK are the second most secure financial group in the UK but Sardarji what will u do with all the wealth & money when ur own Sikh girls have started ditching Sikhism and r entering into Islamic fold ur own Sikh brothers in U.K U.S Canada & Malaysia openly accept it

Dear mighty pathan Its your thinking about sikhism. Qualitywise sikhism is good religion. Many religions including hindu and muslim allowed drugs in their cultural activities. I ask if this is purity???? Whereas in sikhism drugs are prohibited. You are right that some people engaged in wrong this like alcohol consumption but this is their individual choice not our culture. Sikhism is not a failed religion because it gives equal rights to men and women whereas in other religin it lacks , you know well. There are true sikh also but they dont show off. Its upon us that in which way we are seeing this world. Im from india , basically from punjab gurmat prachar mission is going on in punjab. Now the punjab youth is changing and started reading gurbani by themselves. Bhul chuk maaf krna ji

Sardarji, u say that the Punjabi youth is changing and started reading Gurbani I have been to Punjab a number of times recently be it Majha Malwa & Doaba, all that the Punjabi Sikh youth wants today is SHARAAB, SHABAAB, & KABAAB (WINE, SEX & MUTTON).

This month there was a Conclave on Religion in the city of New Delhi and Christians Muslims Hindus Buddhists Jews & Sikhs were called & then the Media started asking questions on their Faith. People from all the Religions were able to answer the questions except Sikhs.

Sikhs in that group comprised of 4 Punjabi Sikhs and one White Sikh and when the Media turned towards them and started to ask questions on Sikhi, only that single White Sikh was able to answer the questions but the 4 Punjabi Sikhs just showed their Red Embarrassing Faces.
