Generally, people are easily confused and misled. Let us focus on serving others, sharing our chardikala spirit and wearing our bana. Then we shall naturally and easily be known and appreciated for who we are. Through your actions people will know that when they see a Sikh, that person can help them and elevate them. Actions speak louder than words.
100% correct, the most important elements in Sikhism are Bana, Sewa, and Simran.
Very few percentage of the people on this planet know as to who Sikhs are but most of the people living in this Universe are aware of Islam. So, when these people see a Sikh male sporting turban and beard they do confuse it with Moslems because some of the religious Moslem leaders the world over keep turban and flowing beard.
In most of the cases of racial discrimination and physical attacks on the Sikh males in the Western world are actually not against the Sikhs but in fact against the Moslems.
i agree with Not-at all punjabi. i think its just a matter of education- not knowing who Sikhs are, who Muslims are. We should spend an effort to educate people in our own lives about our religion, and to learn about other religions. Other people should make an effort to learn about Sikhi and other religions. But people are often too wrapped up in their own stuff to try to learn, so they just base it off of looks. They think we look similar. I think its hard for people also to understand the difference between culture and religion and there is some overlap in culture. Like Punjabis can be Sikhs or Muslims. Then people get confused.
